yee haw!

In exercise., friends., movies, music & tv., school. on February 21, 2009 at 9:43 am

about 3 weeks ago my friend Korrie and I heard about this event called the “barn dance” at cal poly. we decided that it sounded like it could be fun and went to check it out. we paid the $5 to get in and spent the first two hours, about with 100 other poly students and friends, learning 4 line country line dances…challenging but SOOO much fun. then, for the following 3 hours, until midnight, even more people came and just danced like crazy to great country songs =) there was all these different types of line dances, along with the two-step, the cha-cha, and a bunch of other couple dances…

we enjoyed going to the barn dance so much that we started going to the club in san luis obispo when they have western night on thursdays – more lessons and dancing! if we keep going, before you know it, we will finally know all the dances.

korrie and i are even considering joining the cal poly line dancing club now! you learn all the dances, pay a really small fee for the whole year, and get in free to all the events…WIN WIN!!!! =)

POLICE CHASE!

In movies, music & tv., random. on January 28, 2009 at 6:13 pm

did anyone watch the police chase that occured in LA today? it was pretty darn interesting. apparently this woman stole a U-Haul from someone she knew who originally stole it from someone else. after she drove off with it, the original thiefs she stole it from, called the cops and reported it stolen. catch that all? lol

anyways, she drove from palmdale, down to la, then up to malibu, and eventually the ventura area before jumping out of the truck and attempting to run. the funny thing is, when she ran, she tried to get into another car that was stopped to watch it all. they drove away without letting her {shocking!}

check it out here.

well, that was my excitement for the afternoon :) how was everyone elses day?

“I’m the girl with the best intentions
something I should probably mention
I like to get just what I paid for
So i pay and I get and I pay and want some more, more, more

And I want something that I want
Something I tell myself I need
Something that I want
I need everything I see”

quick movie review ~ ‘defiance’

In movies, music & tv. on January 25, 2009 at 5:23 pm

defiance

so, yesterday the boyfriend and i went and saw the new movie ‘defiance’ with daniel craig and liev schreiber. here is my quick take on what i think of the movie.

plot: it is about 4 jewish brothers who live in a forrest to hide out from the nazi’s. they end up helping 1,000+ other jewish people in hiding by building a villiage to survive and protect themselves.

pros: i think this movie was really good! even more so because i knew it was based on a true story. even though the main characters are flawed, i really felt for them. it made me really emotional.

cons: i actually only have one bad thing to say about the movie. in the middle it becomes very slow moving and drags on. i caught myself just Read the rest of this entry »

lucky me.

In boyfriend., movies, music & tv. on January 20, 2009 at 10:22 pm

i love jason mraz. i love all of his music and, when i saw him in london, it was one of the most amazing concerts i have ever been to. one of his song came on the radio today and, even though i have heard it a million times before, the words really hit me. with everything that is going on with the people around me right now, the words rang more true to me than ever.

“Lucky” by Jason Mraz featuring Colbie Caillat

love you alex…

sweet dreams to all. xoxo kaity

i got to thinking about relationships…

In boyfriend., movies, music & tv. on December 17, 2008 at 9:25 pm

There are those that open you up to something new and exotic…

Those that are old and familiar…
Those that bring up a lot of questions…
Those that bring you somewhere unexpected…
Those that bring you far from where you started…
And those that bring you back.
But the most exciting, challengeing, and significant relationship is the one you have with yourself.
And if you find someone to love the you that you love, well, thats just fabulous.
I’ve found mine. ♥

a man.

In movies, music & tv. on December 15, 2008 at 4:53 pm

Saw a story on the local news last night about one more struggling single mother. She was talking about how hard it is getting by with no help, no money, no nothing from the baby’s father. Made me think about this guy I know with a wife and a child who’s working two jobs just to get by. Yeah, he says he’d do anything he could in this world just to give his young family a better life.

THATS A MAN
That’s a ’19-year-old, modern-day hero’ man.

Those two young Marines over there fighting for their country, they’re gonna be friends forever. They’ve both come back eventually, but as bonds and destiny would have it they don’t come back together.
Yeah, the one who lived to tell about why he can’t even talk about it keeps fighting that fight up there in his head. Ain’t a day goes by he don’t wonder “Why wasn’t me instead? It could’ve been me instead!”

THATS A MAN
That’s a ‘you don’t know how hard he tried to save his buddy’s life’ man.

I don’t know about you- Sometimes, I just need a little reminder. Reach down and find some understanding. Find some kind of kindness.
