yee haw!

about 3 weeks ago my friend Korrie and I heard about this event called the “barn dance” at cal poly. we decided that it sounded like it could be fun and went to check it out. we paid the $5 to get in and spent the first two hours, about with 100 other poly students and friends, learning 4 line country line dances…challenging but SOOO much fun. then, for the following 3 hours, until midnight, even more people came and just danced like crazy to great country songs =) there was all these different types of line dances, along with the two-step, the cha-cha, and a bunch of other couple dances…

we enjoyed going to the barn dance so much that we started going to the club in san luis obispo when they have western night on thursdays – more lessons and dancing! if we keep going, before you know it, we will finally know all the dances. 

korrie and i are even considering joining the cal poly line dancing club now! you learn all the dances, pay a really small fee for the whole year, and get in free to all the events…WIN WIN!!!! =)

somehow i happened to stumble across this really cool site and felt i should share it with you – my amazing readers =)

the website is called Wordle and what you do is create a cloud of all of your favorite words. you can also select your blog and they will make one for you, creating it with the words you use the most.

usually it is much larger than this but i had to scrunch it down so it wouldnt take up the whole post. i even have it set as the background on my desktop to remind me of what i want in my life.

I SURVIVED!

spinning_class3 went to spin class today at my gym for the first time in about a  year. it felt so good to be back on a bike and really sweating  everything out. i used to go to spin classes all the time but  when money got tight, i had to give up the gym. now that i am  back to making money, i can go whenever i want and kick start  my new healthier life style!

so while i was pedaling my heart out, sweating up a storm, and starting to feel the burn, a song came on with lyrics that could easily sum it all up.

“I dont care what you think as long as its about me, the best of us can find happiness in misery!”

 

Even though spin class can be hell, i love it…have another class scheduled for wednesday =) Hope you all are having a fabulous day!

in one week i have

-eatin healthy

-exercised everyday

-and lost 4 1/2 pounds!

its true what they say. no pill is going to magically make you shed the pounds. all you need to do is eat right and work out and you too can loose wait weight. 

yay for me!

in honor of my new ‘eat healthy, exercise, live better!’ lifestyle that i have begun recently, i am on my way to begin a 4-mile hike along the bluffs of montana de oro with my aunt. i’m a little nervous actually…my aunt is a big exerciser- she hikes, bike rides, takes dance classes, etc. i used to be a big hiker, but strangely enough, since i have moved here, i haven’t done any and have gotten out of shape [its strange because where i live is FILLED with hiking trails]. she warned me it will probably be a little intense, but HEY! that’s just what i need to get my ass in gear

anyone have any advice for me? whether or not you do, wish me luck!!! i’ll come back and let you know how it goes a little later today :)

okay okay, we are already almost half way through but i’ve been on vacation :)

now that it is a new year, it is time for a fresh start! i am turning my life into a more healthy, happy, productive one. in doing that, my first step is changing what i put into my body. i went to the grocery store the other day and now my refrigerator is filled with chicken, salmon, salad fixings, yogurt, Special K cereal and snack bars, fruits and vegetables, and water. no more chips and dip. no more soda. no more crap! 
***this is not a one year resolution! this is a life change!***
i have only started yesterday, but so far so good. is there any one else out there doing similar? if so, here are a couple of site i have found really helpful! 
  • eat better america - they take normal, fattening recipes and put a healthy spin on them
  • Special K - a great short term strategy to shed those extra holiday pounds
  • PEERtrainer - very helpful! you can track what you eat and join groups for support
